Thinking of Goz

Goz is a friend of my brother Jeff. All last week he was complaining of headaches until finally his friends took him to hospital where he received a CAT scan that came back blank. Not entirely clear on what happened next but he went home and the headaches worsened and he went to another hospital with my brother, hardly able to speak because of the intensity of the pain.
While waiting to be seen he began to convulse and had to be restrained and sedated. A second CAT scan revealed a clot in the jugular vein (I think that's the one - the main one by which the blood leaves the brain). Because of this clot, the blood in his brain was unable to leave and began to bleed back into the brain tissue causing swelling - hence the pain.
He's been unconscious for four days now as every time they try to bring him round the convulsions start again. They are pumping him full of anti-coagulants to clear the blockage but because of the fact that his brain is full of largely oxygen-depleted blood, the oxygenated blood cannot properly do its job of delivering oxygen to the brain - the net result of which is potential brain damage.
So I was just thinking of Goz and I hope to have a laugh over a beer with him again.
