In the CD tray....
Beck - Mutations
For me this is the last Beck album before he completely lost the plot. The frayed line between prodigy and rabid mentalist just about holds on this one.
Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation
What can I say but wow. Sometimes it seems he had an unfortunate obsession with fighting and being drunk and lary but still there's no denying that Phil Lynnot was a genius. Add in Bran Downey's frankly insane drumming and sprinkle with some dual guitar riffs. Yay.
Jellyfish - Spilt Milk
Oh, Jellyfish. Imagine the bastard child of early Queen and The Beatles via Squeeze. Excellent musicians, terrifyingly lush close harmonies and lyrics that belong in a rock-opera. This CD rocks so, so much. Incidentally (as a bit of CD-tray interconnectivity) Roger Manning the keyboard player from Jellyfish now plays keyboards for Beck.
